Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Stageside (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a ticketing platform at stageside.live that connects Texas music venues with fans. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.

This policy applies to everyone who uses our platform, including:

  • Buyers — fans who purchase tickets, whether as a registered account holder or as a guest.
  • Venue Managers — individuals and organizations who list and manage events on the platform.
  • Visitors — anyone who browses our website without making a purchase or creating an account.

We are committed to handling your information with care. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide to Us

When you buy a ticket (guest or registered):

  • Name and email address
  • Payment card information and billing address (transmitted directly to Stripe for payment processing; we do not store card numbers or billing addresses — see Section 2.4)
  • Number of tickets and the event you purchased for

When you create an account:

  • Name and email address
  • Password (stored as a one-way hash; we cannot recover it)
  • Any profile information you choose to add

When you look up a guest order:

  • Email address or order access token

When you contact us:

  • Your name, email address, and the content of your message

2.2 Information We Collect from Venue Managers

In addition to account information above, venue managers provide:

  • Business or organization name
  • Bank account information, connected through Stripe Connect for payout purposes
  • Tax identification information, as required by Stripe for payment facilitation
  • Event details: event name, description, date, time, location, ticket price, and capacity

2.3 Information Collected Automatically

When you use our platform, we automatically collect:

  • Device and browser information: browser type, operating system, device type
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, time and duration of visits
  • IP address and approximate location (city or region level, derived from IP)
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 5 below

2.4 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • Full payment card numbers (Stripe handles and stores these)
  • Billing addresses (Stripe collects billing address as part of payment processing for fraud prevention; we do not store it)
  • Government-issued ID numbers (unless required by Stripe for identity verification on certain payout accounts)
  • Biometric or health information
  • Precise GPS location

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

We will not use your information for a purpose that is materially different from those described above without updating this policy or obtaining your consent.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described below.

4.1 Payment Processing

We use Stripeto process all ticket payments and venue payouts. When you make a purchase, your payment information is transmitted directly to Stripe. Stripe's use of your data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy. We share with Stripe the information required to process your transaction and verify your identity as needed for fraud prevention.

4.2 Venue Managers

When you purchase a ticket to an event, the venue manager who listed that event receives your name and email address. This allows them to manage attendance, communicate event updates, and check you in at the door. Venue managers are required by our Venue Agreement to use this information only for purposes related to the event.

If you attend a free or cancelled event where a refund is processed, venue managers may receive records of the transaction for accounting purposes.

4.3 Service Providers

We work with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including:

  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure (e.g., Vercel, Supabase)
  • Email delivery (for order confirmations and notifications)
  • Error monitoring and analytics

These providers access only the information necessary to perform their services and are prohibited from using it for other purposes.

4.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or government authority, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Stageside, our users, or the public.

4.5 Business Transfers

If Stageside is acquired by or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is subject to a different privacy policy.

4.6 Aggregated or De-identified Data

We may share aggregated, anonymized data (for example, total ticket sales by genre or venue) that cannot be used to identify you. This data is not subject to the restrictions in this policy.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to make the platform work and to understand how it is used.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or behavioral tracking for advertising purposes.

5.2 Managing Cookies

You can configure your browser to refuse or delete cookies. Disabling essential cookies may affect the functionality of the platform (for example, you may not be able to stay logged in or complete a purchase).

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, subject to the following:

  • Account information is retained for the life of your account and for a reasonable period after account closure to allow you to reactivate your account.
  • Transaction records (purchase history, payout records) are retained for a minimum of 7 years to comply with IRS record-keeping requirements for financial transactions.
  • Guest order records are retained for the same period as transaction records, linked to the email address used at checkout.
  • Marketing preferences (opt-in/opt-out status) are retained so we can honor your choices.

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it so it can no longer be associated with you.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
  • Bcrypt password hashing (we cannot recover your password)
  • Payment data handled entirely by Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant); we do not store card numbers
  • Role-based access controls limiting employee access to personal data

No security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee absolute data security. If we become aware of a security breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8. Children's Privacy

Our platform is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@stageside.live.

9. Your Rights and Choices

9.1 Marketing Communications

You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us. Even if you unsubscribe from marketing, we will still send you transactional emails related to your purchases and account (order confirmations, payout notices, refund notifications).

9.2 Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your account by contacting us at privacy@stageside.live. We will delete your account and associated personal information within 30 days of receiving your request, subject to our data retention obligations (Section 6). Note that:

  • Transaction records required for legal or tax purposes will be retained in de-identified or minimized form after account deletion.
  • If you have tickets for a future event at the time of your request, we may delay deletion until after that event.

9.3 Access and Correction

You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct inaccurate information, by contacting us at privacy@stageside.live.

9.4 Cookies and Tracking Opt-Out

You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. For analytics opt-out, see Section 5.2.

9.5 Do Not Sell or Share

We do not sell your personal information. If you believe we are sharing your information in a way that constitutes a “sale” or “share” under applicable law (for example, through analytics tools), you may submit a request using the contact information in Section 13.

10. State Privacy Rights

10.1 Texas Residents

The Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA), effective July 1, 2024, provides Texas residents with specific rights regarding their personal data, including the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of your data, and to opt out of the processing of your data for targeted advertising or profiling. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 13.

10.2 California Residents

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@stageside.live.

California's “Shine the Light” law permits California residents to request information about how we share certain personal information with third parties for direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, contact us with “California Shine the Light Request” in the subject line.

10.3 Other States

Residents of other states (Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others) that have enacted comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights. We will honor rights requests from residents of states with applicable privacy laws. Contact us at privacy@stageside.live to submit a request.

11. Third-Party Links

Our platform may contain links to third-party websites (for example, venue websites or performer pages). This policy does not apply to those websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (if you have an account) or by posting a prominent notice on our platform at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
